| Short-Term Housing
Services |
Some burn survivors lack family support or
live too far away from appropriate medical and rehabilitation facilities.
They face the risk of missing the crucial rehabilitation period and
having their physical functions greatly affected. In order to avoid
any delay in rehabilitation, Sunshine Foundation has been offering
since 1991 short-term housing to children and adult burn survivors.
In 2001, the housing services were integrated in one location, the
Sunshine Half-Way House.
Services include:
¡ECaring and education: Give children burn survivors
a friendly living environment
¡@where they can carry out their physical rehabilitation, progressively
readjust to
¡@daily life and pursue their schooling.
¡EHome physical rehabilitation: Help burn survivors
with home physical
¡@rehabilitation and splinting.
¡EIndependent living: Help burn survivors regain
their ability to live independently.
¡EDaily care: Provide assistance with daily care
(bathing and showering, pressure
¡@garment) to ensure recovery of scars through good hygiene.
¡ETransportation: Provide daily transportation
to Sunshine Rehabilitation Center.
¡ELeisure activities: Organize indoor or outdoor
leisure activities to reduce stress.
¡ESocial adjustment: Through community life and
participation in community
¡@activities, provide more opportunities for social interaction and
facilitate the
¡@social adjustment of burn survivors. |
