Comprehensive services for burn survivors and people with facial disfigurement

Sunshine Foundation has developed comprehensive services to address the physical, psychological and social needs of burn survivors and people with facial disfigurement. At the moment of injury, during the rehabilitation process, and finally when it is time to return within the community, Sunshine is there to accompany burn survivors and people with facial disfigurement on the road to recovery. Sunshine achieves this by relying on a multi-disciplinary team of specialists in the fields of social work, physical rehabilitation, psychological counseling and vocational counseling, all cooperating as a team. At the end of 2009, staff of Sunshine Foundation consisted of 97 people.

The Foundation also maintains a presence across Taiwan with four service centers (Taipei, Taichung, Kaohsiung and Hualian), one Rehabilitation Center (Taipei) and one half-way house (Taipei).

¡EA total of 1,550 people benefited of the services of Sunshine in 2009.
¡EOf this number, 679 people were new clients. 56% were referred to Sunshine
¡@by a medical or welfare institution, and 25% contacted Sunshine themselves.

¡@satisfied with services and believed that these services contributed significantly
¡@to improving their life quality.
