International Cooperation and Exchange
In the occasion of international conference, Sunshine Foundation and Phoenix Society sign a memorandum for the future cooperation and exchange between two organizations.
Background
At the “International Conference on Psychological Research & Service of Burn Survivors & Facial Disfigurement” in 2004, we are honored by the participation of “The Phoenix Society” from the USA, who will share their experiences with us. This society was founded by Alan Breslau in 1977 to advocate the benefits and the rights of burn survivors.
Based on our common cause of upholding the rights and well-being of burn survivors and facially-disfigured people, we believe the “Sunshine Foundation” and the “Phoenix Society” can develop a great partnership through staff interaction and frequent exchange of practical experiences and research results. We sincerely hope both sides will gain a better understanding of each other by maintaining regular contact. May we all improve our professional skills and strengthen our capacity for upholding the rights of burn survivors and facially disfigured people on international level.
Goals
- Facilitate exchange and mutual visits, learn from each other’s experiences: We hope to draft a schedule for visits and seminars to strengthen our connections and to enhance the effective use of our joint resources.
- Conduct joint research programs and share results: We hope to cooperate on improving professional skills, academic research and expand support for those we serve.
- Explore the possibility of creating an international organization for burn survivors and facially disfigured people: As a long-term perspective, we hope to establish an international organization that can offer our services to the burn survivors and facially disfigured people in many more other countries around the world.
